Red Mulberry (Morus Rubra)

Morus rubra, or Red Mulberry, is a deciduous tree that may grow to 30 feet with a short trunk about 2 feet in diameter and a dense, spreading crown. Produces abundant sweet fruit that matures in late spring.  Berries are eaten fresh when ripe and red, and also enjoyed by wildlife as well.  Deer also browse tender new growth, good option for off-season bedding areas as it is thicket forming as well.  Tolerates wet soil and suitable for partial shade to full sun.
