Shumard Oak (Quercus Shumardii)

Is a native large deciduous tree in the red oak group. It is an attractive tree with a pyramidal shape when young and a more open rounded crown at maturity.  Tolerates a wide range of soil conditions, is often planted in urban areas, parks, parking lots.  Produces are large crop of acorns and holds them longer than most oaks, as late as December.
